Guest Designer - Thursday

Welcome to Fitztown on this lovely Thursday. Ema here to introduce another September Guest Designer, Wio. You can see more of her fabulous work on her blog, Wiola's Creative Space.

Here is what Wio wants you to know about her:

I’m a social worker, tree hugger and veggie lover. I’m also a big sister and little sister. I have three awesome sisters. My oldest little sister is like a twin to me, since we have almost identical opinions and ideas.

At high school I went to the Aesthetic Program - textile/fashion. For several years my crafting was focused on sewing – only. When I had finished high school I was so tired of sewing that my brand new sewing machine was left untouched for a long time. I went to social work college and didn’t find time for bigger craft projects, such as sewing. Eventually I felt the NEED to craft again. So, I started painting… with all the left-overs of my nail polish. Since I worked in the social care, I couldn’t use nail polish anymore since that would be against the hygiene regulations. I made small paintings (in post-card-sizes) and I found myself enjoying it. Later I purchased actual paint and markers, instead of nail polish. Then it didn’t take me long before I had discovered the world of scrap-booking/card-making with all the different and fabulous papers, digital stamps and other scrap-booking supplies. I found that it suited me perfectly. It wasn’t too time-consuming or demanding. Also I didn’t have to rip more seams (which my sewing projects had often resulted in).

Here is my project:
It's a bookmark.  I painted the digi with Promarkers (Almond for skin; Buttercup, Pumpkin & Burnt Orange for her clothing; Cocoa, Burnt Orange and Pumpkin for her hair). I also added some touch of Stickles to her clothing (Diamond and Orange Peel). The flowers are painted with Promarkers: Burnt Orange, Pumpkin and Mint Green plus green acrylic paint and finally Stickles: Eucalyptus, Fruit Punch and Orange Peel. The wings are painted with Stickles: Diamond, Green, Orange Peel, Yellow and Cinnamon. The background is painted with Golden Acrylic paint and Chalk-Ah-Lot: Lime on black paper. The stitched border is painted with first green acrylic paint and then golden. The left corner is made with the Soap Bubbles technique (soap mixed with lots of water and golden acrylic paint). I love golden acrylic paint. Lol.

Isn't it fabulous!?! I absolutely love it and I love that she included a link to a new technique! I cannot wait to try something like this myself!

Be sure to stop by our current Challenge #8 - Anything But a Card. There's only a few more days to join in on the fun!

Thanks for stopping by!
