DT Penny - Kraft Paper Challenge

Coloring On Kraft

Hello, I am Penny and I am posting for you today! The challenge today is to color on Kraft. I am using Car 3 one of Fitztown's awesome images. I used Kraft paper by Bazzil and I colored my image with Copic Markers and a couple Prismacolor pencils.
I used Graphic 45 paper and sponged it all up with some Memento Rich Cocoa and Tuxedo black inks. I used cool grays and added some reds and yellows with a couple Prismacolor Pencils. This is going to make a great card for my son-n-law tomorrow. I hope you like and are inspired to start creating a little something of your own.
Happy Crafting!!

DT Judy - Antique Car Love

Judy here, my turn to show you my project using kraft or coloured paper for this week's challenge.   I decided on kraft paper because I have hoarded lots in my stash.  I used this lovely antique car called car 4 from the interesting collection of cars digital images at Fitztown.

The textured kraft paper is  from a friend that is a stain glass artist.  Her large pieces of glass come wrapped up in this interesting paper.

I coloured the antique car with Copic Markers, white gell pen and pencil crayon.  I added diamond glaze to the head lights , stapled the travel background paper to the card stock and added the hand and sentiments by Tim Holtz to show case my digital image.  Both the hand and the sentiment were also stamped on kraft paper.

There still is time to join in this challenge.  Just create  your card and enter it here

GD Jacqui

Hi everyone! I hope you all had a happy, healthy and crafty New Year.
Jacqui here with my first post for Fitztown in 2014.

For my first project on the blog I'm using the image LE 5 the last enchanters LE kids by Ariana Soares which you can find here http://www.fitztown.com/the-last-enchanter.html
This is the first image I've used from Fitztown and I'm totally loving them and can't wait to get my next one. I coloured this with Promarkers then cut it out with a Tonic die (loopy lace). For the background I used a Justrite stamp and Versamark on black card with a cosmic shimmer lustre embossing powder. Kraft card is my new favourite toy at the minute so I embossed a piece for my mat with another embossed white piece behind, then added a small green net bow with a black gem, this is my top layer. I found a matching piece of blue card (in the bit box that we all have) lol. I used the matching Tonic loopy lace punch down both sides and matted it on some white with some blue ribbon on the corner and this is my 2nd layer. I used my trademark 8x8 card with a Kraft card mat and some green netting on top as my base layer. I finished by adding some bling with silver gems down the left side of my top layer and some blue and green on the right side of my 2nd layer to finish with . I really hope you like what I've made and please let me know what you think.
Thanks for stopping by and be sure to join us for Challenge #18 - Kraft Paper. We'd love to see your creation with Kraft paper.

Challenge #18 Coloring / Using Kraft Paper

Hello crafters and welcome to join our #18 challenge here at Fitztown. It is a second challenge on this year. With this theme you can color on Kraft Paper or just use one somehow. I don't own any pencils could be colored to Kraft Paper so I just use it on my card. Welcome all!

Guest Designer for January / February

Hello, my name is Ivette and I was born and raised in NYC. In 2002, I retired as a Police Officer from the NYPD's Pickpocket Unit. I live in the beautiful Hudson Valley in upstate NY with my family and dogs. I've been creative since I was a little girl and it all started with a coloring book, crayons and a dare.

I teach paper crafts, stamping and mixed media at private events and retreats in the tri-state area. Currently, I am a Certified Paper Ed instructor at Michaels Arts & Crafts and I am Copic Certified. I've attended several workshops with Tim Holtz, Finnabair and Kathy Orta from Paper Phenomenom.

My style leans more towards Steampunk and Vintage. I love photography, horses, the color red and I'm a HUGE Star Wars fan. My favorite motto comes from Yoda, "Do, or Do not... there is no TRY!"

I look forward to sharing my knowledge and being a guest designer for Fitztown.

Challenge #17 - Anything Goes

Welcome friends and fellow bloggers! We are so happy to have you join us in 2014! We trust you had a safe and happy holiday with family and friends. Now, let's get busy crafting! We hope to see you more often in the new year and in order to help with that, Fitztown has made some HUGE changes!

Fitztown now has TWO design teams to inspire you! We have Team A made up with Ema (that's me!), Judy and Kate. We have Team B made up with Sande and Kaija. Sande and Judy have graciously accepted to be the Team Leaders. Judy will Lead Team A and Sande will Lead Team B. Team Leaders will be writing the challenge posts. We're still on the look out for five more permanent team members but in the meantime we have Guest Designers helping us out. For January and February, we have Jackie Cornfield, Penny Odell and Jacqui Robinson. Our former DT member Deni Sargeant has returned as a Guest Designer as well. Jackie and Deni are joining Team B and Jacqui and Penny will be with Team A. Yay teams! :)

We've also changed the schedule for our challenge blog. We will now be having weekly two-week challenges! I hope that is not confusing! All of our challenges will run for two weeks and there will be a new challenge starting every Monday. I worry I do not know how to explain it clearly so if you have any questions, please comment and I will be happy to try a different way to explain it. You can always just keep tabs on Mr. Linky below as well. Challenges will run TWO weeks from Monday until Sunday.

Prize packages remain the same. You can use any image to participate in the challenge but in order to win the top prize you MUST use a Fitztown image. TOP 3 will be chosen from ALL entries and will receive a coupon for a 50% digi. In order to have a winner, we must have at LEAST one participant use a Fitztown image. If there are OVER 10 participants, we will use Random.org for the winner. In order to have a TOP 3, we MUST have at least 10 participants. If under ten participants, DT Coordinator will be choosing the winner and TOP 3. As DT Coordinator, as long as the entries remain under ten, I will be choosing the winning entry and I will always chose the TOP 3. Winner and TOP 3 will be announced the Sunday following the week challenge ends.

So for this challenge, you have until January 19th midnight EST. Winner and TOP 3 will be announced Sunday, January 26th.

Thanks for joining us today and we hope you enjoy everyone's favorite type of challenge, ANYTHING GOES! :) Let's roll up our sleeves and have some fun!

Judy's Winter in Blue and White - Challenge #16

Hi, Judy here. Happy New Years.  It is the first Thursday of this new year and my turn to show you my second challenge card for the "Winter in Blue and White"  challenge at Fitztown.
I used Fitztown's image from their winter collection called Winter 8, you can find the image here.  I used a few different products to make my card including the interesting flower and lace ribbons I used on my card.  The flower and lace ribbons came in a bag I found at a local thrift store. I think it is very old lace and a great additive for my card.

I also used my Copic Markers, punched glittered snowflakes, glitter and white flower soft.   I think these  elements give the card more of a wintery look.  There is still time to join in this challenge.   Remember my favourite quote by Maya Angelou. “You can’t use up creativity. The more you use, the more you have.”

Hope you all have a very creative 2014!

My name is Jacqui Robinson
On my next birthday in Feb 2014 I will be 49
I have 3 kids, 1 boy and 2 girls
Ryan is 30, Lee-anne is 26 and Sarah-Jade, who is 22. Ryan and SJ still live at home
My first grandchild arrived this year to Lee-anne on Halloween night and, already at 2 months, he stays with me every Sat night.
I live with my partner, David McKissock, who has 2 kids, 1 boy, 1 girl and 3 grandkids (2 boys and 1 girl).
I began crafting about 5 yrs ago because of serious illness and now I consider myself addicted lol. I hate it if I can't craft every day! My daughter asked to me 2 wks ago how long I'd been crafting? When I told her she said you can tell cause your creations are of a much higher standard now compared to then but not in those words lol.

Thank you to everyone who entered our Challenge #15 Easel card.
A big thank you to all our participants!
Unfortunately, for this challenge we do not have a winner. No one used a Fitztown image, but I did love all the cards that were entered. There were not enough entries for a TOP 3 as well. I guess the holiday season proved to be way too much for some crafters!

Thanks for joining our challenge!
We hope you participate in our current Challenge #16 Winter/Blue/White Theme.

GD Bettina - Winter tag card

Hi this is GD Bettina posting my last inspirational project for Fitztown. Have been a blast spending a little time with this awesome team and not to speak of those lovely images to work with as well. The image I've chosen for my tag is from the winter collection yet again, and I did choose to use one of the snowmen from the winter 1 collection. You can certainly find them here
I used my sizzix tag die (large one) to make this tag and cut out some leftover designpaper to give it some colour. I used some new Marianne dies to cut out the snowman and made a frame and added a clock behind and some snowflakes and bling.
You can still play along with our winter/blue/white theme over here!!

Have a lovely saturday

Hugs Bettina xx

GD Deni - Winter Card

Hello :-) GD Deni here stopping by the Fitztown Blog with another post.

I am using the extra image I printed when doing my tags in my last post :-) no wastage here lol.

Today I have made a card for you to see, this is intended for one of my son's pre school teachers.
So again, the image I have chosen is from Fitztown's 2013 Winter Collection. He is one of the snowmen from Winter 1. You can find them here

The image was resized to approximately 5cm wide, so that he would fit my tag die, but I only used one of the images I printed so this is the extra. . I printed them on x-press it blending Cardstock. I purchased this from Forever Markers (only available from here in Australia).

I am going to copy all the colouring process from my tag post as this was done exactly the same.

Please remember to make sure u clean off your craft mat before u start crafting so you don't leave any ink residue or any leftovers from your last project. I use baby wipes, I find they are quick and easy and readily available as I use them to clean my rubber stamps.

I will be working with Copic Markers today but u can use whatever medium you are comfortable with.

Next I start laying down my colours, I am working on the candy came first as sometimes red bleeds and I don't want to ruin my whole image if this happens, if I do it first and it bleeds I can start over.

I have chosen to colour my candy cane using R24, R27, R29. Due to this being a small image there won't be as much blending required as what I would normally be doing.

So first I lay down my R24 on every second stripe, then I use my R27 to come in from the edges and lay down a bit more colour but leaving a stripe down the middle, I then do the same thing with my R29 but not going to the end of the R27, so some R27 is still showing.

Now I normally work light to dark and then work my way back, but due to this being a smaller image I will be skipping the R27 in the blending back and using my R24 to blend the R29-R27 back into the R24. You will notice you will still be left with the stripe down the middle. If you are using a larger image them feel free to use all the colours when blending back to lightest.

Please leave your markers (or other medium) out as we will be using them again later.

Candy cane is now complete let's move onto something else :-)

Let's work on his hat. Another red section so I will be using the same colours again, R24, R27, R29.

So same process as before, lay down your base colour (lightest colour) R24. Next start putting in your shadows with R27, come out a little bit as you will need to add darker colour closer to the edge. (don't quote me on these shadows as I'm not the best at them hehe). Next do the same with your R29, not quite coming out as far as your R27.

Next we are going back in with our R24 (no blending with R27 as it's a small image).

Next we will do his nose, this won't take much as it's so small. I will be using YR04, YR07.

I didn't do any blending at all on the nose, I just layed down the base colour YR04, and did a quick shadow with YR07.

Next I will be doing the scarf I'm thinking a nice blue. B93, B95, B97

I layed down my base colour of B93, added some shadow with B95 and then B97. I then went back with my B93 ( I skipped my middle colour again as it wasn't required on such a small image) and blended them out.

Next is the buttons, I think I may just use some browns on those :-) E53, E55.

Firstly lay down base layer of E53, now some shadow with E55, then back to E53 to blend out the E55. I found this lightened the shadows too much so I have had to go back I with my E55 and add the shadows again without blending out this time.

Next I am just going to add some shadows into the snow. I am going to use c1, c3 and my 0 blender,

Firstly lay down a small shadow using your c1 then go back and add the c3 in the same places but closer to the edge leaving some c1 showing.

Next, using your C3 blender, blend your shadows back into the snowman, using a short flicking motion over the top of your c1 and c3 towards the centre of the image.

I won't be adding any shadows to the hat white areas as I will be covering this with glitter and in such a small area you won't see them.

Next I attach my die to the image using the Spellbinders Classic Ovals Small Dies and run it through my Cuttlebug.

I have now run the image with the die through my Cuttlebug and popped it out of the die. Looking good so far, nearly finished :-)

I am now going to make my card, I don't have the larger oval dies so i just place the die I used down on a piece of light blue cardstock and trace around the outside with a pencil, I then cut it out using my Tim Holtz Scissors. I attach the image oval to the blue oval and that gives me a frame. I used my Towmbow Multi Mono Liquid Glue to attach it.

I cut a 13x26cm card base from American Crafts Blue Cardstock, then I score it at 13cm and fold it. i then cut a 12.5cm base from white Cardstock.

I am using papers from Kaisercrafts new paper collection called Santa's List.

I cut a 2cm x 12cm strip from one of the sheets (this was actually leftovers from another card I had made). I also cut a 12cmx12cm square from another pattern paper. I attach the large square to the white square then the strip to the pattern paper. I cut a piece of red ribbon from Ribtex and wrap it around the card and tie a nice piece to the front. I then attach all of this to the blue base.

I stamp the Merry Christmas Sentiment from Paper Smooches Merry Motifs Stamp set using Versafine Onyx Black onto a leftover piece of the white cardstock and cut some flags into the end and attach it.

I add some bling from my stash and some glitter to the snowmans hat and done :-)

Hopefully you enjoyed my tutorial please leave some love here and on my personal blog

Thanks for stopping by Fitztown :-)

DT Thursday - Challenge #15, Easel Card

Judy here, this is my Thursday DT card for the current challenge to creating a Easel Card.

It  was fun making this easel card with this Santa image from the winter collection at Fitztown. I first coloured my image with my Copic Markers and a glitter pen.  I used part of a rubber stamp of a present to keep my Santa image standing on my card and then added a couple of sentiments, glittered snowflakes and bling to finish the card.

Remember there is still time to enter the challenge.

Have a creative day
Judy!
