Guest Designer - Thursday

Welcome to Fitztown on this lovely Thursday. Ema here to introduce another September Guest Designer, Wio. You can see more of her fabulous work on her blog, Wiola's Creative Space.

Here is what Wio wants you to know about her:

I’m a social worker, tree hugger and veggie lover. I’m also a big sister and little sister. I have three awesome sisters. My oldest little sister is like a twin to me, since we have almost identical opinions and ideas.

At high school I went to the Aesthetic Program - textile/fashion. For several years my crafting was focused on sewing – only. When I had finished high school I was so tired of sewing that my brand new sewing machine was left untouched for a long time. I went to social work college and didn’t find time for bigger craft projects, such as sewing. Eventually I felt the NEED to craft again. So, I started painting… with all the left-overs of my nail polish. Since I worked in the social care, I couldn’t use nail polish anymore since that would be against the hygiene regulations. I made small paintings (in post-card-sizes) and I found myself enjoying it. Later I purchased actual paint and markers, instead of nail polish. Then it didn’t take me long before I had discovered the world of scrap-booking/card-making with all the different and fabulous papers, digital stamps and other scrap-booking supplies. I found that it suited me perfectly. It wasn’t too time-consuming or demanding. Also I didn’t have to rip more seams (which my sewing projects had often resulted in).

Here is my project:
It's a bookmark.  I painted the digi with Promarkers (Almond for skin; Buttercup, Pumpkin & Burnt Orange for her clothing; Cocoa, Burnt Orange and Pumpkin for her hair). I also added some touch of Stickles to her clothing (Diamond and Orange Peel). The flowers are painted with Promarkers: Burnt Orange, Pumpkin and Mint Green plus green acrylic paint and finally Stickles: Eucalyptus, Fruit Punch and Orange Peel. The wings are painted with Stickles: Diamond, Green, Orange Peel, Yellow and Cinnamon. The background is painted with Golden Acrylic paint and Chalk-Ah-Lot: Lime on black paper. The stitched border is painted with first green acrylic paint and then golden. The left corner is made with the Soap Bubbles technique (soap mixed with lots of water and golden acrylic paint). I love golden acrylic paint. Lol.

Isn't it fabulous!?! I absolutely love it and I love that she included a link to a new technique! I cannot wait to try something like this myself!

Be sure to stop by our current Challenge #8 - Anything But a Card. There's only a few more days to join in on the fun!

Thanks for stopping by!

Guest Designer - Wednesday

DT Sande here with today's announcement. We have a new Guest Designer to introduce, Avril Ann Watson. We're so pleased she agreed to be a GD for Fitztown!
Here's what Avril has to say about herself:

About Me

I started crafting as a young girl, first with crocheting and knitting, then embroidery and tapestry.

I got into Paper crafting in 2005, after nursing my Dad through cancer and losing him in February of that year.

I started off with a little plastic box, mainly doing decoupage, then got into stamping, and later, CD crafting and digis.

I have been disabled and unable to work for several years, where upon I found Blogland and FB, I have amassed an amazing amount of friends and like-minded people.  This has been my saviour, in so many ways, as my family, go about their days, I too have something to do, and hope contribute.

I am on several Design Teams, mainly in the Digi arena.  I did do a little stint on Kanban, before they went into administration, that was fun, and I made several projects for their shows, at the NEC and Create and Craft.

Here's my first project:

What a fabulous project, wouldn't you agree? I love the originality of it!

Don't forget! We've still got a few days left on our current Challenge #8 - Anything But a Card. Please join us for some fun!

Thanks for stopping by!

Guest Designer - Tuesday

Welcome Fitztown bloggers! Maria here with today's news... we have our September Guest Designer, Kate Leroche with a card she's made using a Morgan Fitzsimons' image. We'd love to have you leave her some blog love for her awesome project!

Here is what Kate has to say about her project:

It's time for my next card at Fitztown Challenge blog. I have used an image from the Fairy Dust Collection and colored with Tombows. Dies are from Spellbinders and corner punch is an unknown brand. I've used some paper rose and feathers to accessorize the image. I enjoy making angels and fairies just because it has a lot to do with fantasy when you make them.

Have a lovely day!!
Kate
Isn't this just a lovely project! We're so pleased to have Kate with us as GD. She does beautiful work.

Don't forget there's less than a week left to play along with our current Challenge #8 - Anything But a Card. We'd love to see what you can create when you let the creativity flow!

Good Saturday Fitztown Followers. There is still time to join our current challenge any thing but a card. I would like to share a wall hanging with you today. My brother Andrew got married recently, to Rachael. He kept the poor girl hanging on for 13 years. They called Princess Catherine weighty Katie, Rachael was also very patient. I made this by cutting a heart from ply wood using a sizzix large die. The image i used is by Morgan Fitsimons and can be found at the Fitztown shop.If you can not find what you are looking for email sales@fitztown.com The monogram is a stamp i used to make their wedding invitations. DT Thursday with Ema

Hello Fitztown! :) Ema here with a quick little project for you today.

I almost didn't make it! I've not felt well most of the week but I didn't want to let my team down so I whipped this up really fast. Not all that fast... still took me almost two hours! lol But that's because my head was a little fuzzy and I kept measuring wrong! :(

The other day I was at Office Depot and I saw some telephone books. Can you believe those are still made? In this day and age, I just couldn't imagine but there they were and... not just that... they were kinda pricey! I can't remember what the price was now but they cost more than a day planner! Can you believe it?

Anyway, when I was calling around these past few days about repairs for my vehicle and kept getting referrals, I almost filled an entire 3X3 Post-It pad! Wow! lol That was a lot of numbers. These were not numbers I wanted to store on my phone either. Just numbers to get information. But then... that's what I tend to do. When I was preparing to enter Texas Tech, I filled another little 3X3 Post-It pad with phone numbers. lol When I saw telephone books were still being sold, I had a little chuckle. If only they could see MY telephone Post-Its! lol

So I made myself a little telephone Post-It pad holder. lol Here it is:

Wasn't I clever? ;) I cut a thin piece of cardboard and two strips of printed G45 paper from their Communique Collection. I glued one strip of paper on front of the cardboard and on back of the cardboard. I matted the telephone Karen Sheltrown image on a red mat bordered by a thin strip of white paper punched with a flower patterned punch. I colored the image with Copic markers. I edged the entire project with black ink. Something that I realized I probably should have done BEFORE I glued the entire project together but as I pointed out earlier, my head's a little fuzzy and I wasn't thinking clearly. I glued two magnets underneath the paper on the front two panels facing each other. I used temporary double sided tape on the back of the pad to secure it to the holder.

Quick measurement run down:
Cut paper 3 1/4 inches by 8 1/2 inches
Score at 1 1/2, 1 7/8, 5 and 5 3/8 inches

You can easily use one strip of sturdy card stock paper. These are quick and you can make half a dozen in no time for gifts to co-workers, teachers, home office, etc. It took me longer because I wanted a sturdier one for my own personal use that I could use over and over again. But you can make these to gift with pretty printed card stock. You'd want to use a strong adhesive to secure the pad to the back of the holder and you can substitute Velcro holders on the inside of the front flap.

By the way, images are still being downloaded to the store so check back often. If you see an image you'd like to have, email sales@fitztown.com with the link to the image and something can get worked out for you. :)

So that's my little project for today. Don't forget to join us for our Challenge #8 - Anything But a Card! Hence... the Post-It pad holder! :)

Thanks for stopping by!

September Guest Designer

Please help us welcome one of our September Guest Designers! We are so happy Kate Leroche agreed to be spotlighted with projects using Fitztown images. She did an incredible job with these images!

First, Kate writes:

My name is Kate Leroche. I live in the middle of Sweden in a town called Karlstad. I am married to Michael and have been together for 19 years and married for 10 years (16 September is our anniversary). We have a daughter Jessica, who is 30 and who has given me four wonderful grandchildren and a son Nick who is 27.
I work part time at a training company with administrative duties. We love to travel and we travel abroad three to four times a year. We spend time with family and friends and love to be in our boat in the summer.

I have always been creative and enjoyed creating things. I have as drawn and painted, stitched and renovated since it allows one to do something for yourself and you feel good doing it.

I became ill 5.5 years ago in something called Frozen Shoulder, which means that the shafts freezes solid and you can not use them at all. Needed help with everything. The road's been long but happy that I'm working again now. I have pain every day but forget it when I scrap.

I have a female friend who was doing scrapbooking and she would stop and get rid of her things, she asked if I wanted to try. I did and it worked for me.

Now I have been doing this for 2 years and like to create folds, details are important to me, and accessories must stick together in what I create.

I started blogging in March and now works as a Design Team Member in three blogs.

Here is her first project using a Morgan Fitzsimons' image.

Isn't this fabulous!?! Please, if you have time, visit Kate at her blog, K8's Scrapcorner, for all the details and leave her some blog love there too!
