Guest Designers for March / April 2014

Ema here announcing our Guest Designers for March and April 2014. I'm very excited to have these two talented ladies join our team! I'm sure you will be inspired by what they bring to life with some of Fitztown's fabulous images! We have Tracey Mowbray and Lynn Haines with us. Here they are to tell you a little about themselves.
My name is Tracey Mowbray. I live in Oxfordshire, England with my lovely
hubby & 2 boys who are my world (except crafting).
I've been making cards for 10 years and I also got into scrapbooking in a
big way, so crafting has taken over my life especially as both my boys are at
school.
I have a dream job of being a Craft Demonstrator for Debbi Moore Designs which see me going around the south of England meeting some lovely crafters.
Lynn
I am a crafty person who dabbled in many crafts over the years. My current passion is card-making and scrapbooking.  I found digital images and blogging in 2013 and haven't looked back. I love being a part of a couple of wonderful design teams, and love to participate in weekly card-making challenges. I'm known as Lynnpenguin in blog-land because I LOVE penguins and have a collection that numbers over 3,000 penguins and even had one beaded and sequined on my wedding dress.

Please help me welcome these two talented crafters! We hope to see you playing along with our current challenges. Thanks for stopping by!

GD Ivette - Challenge #24 Stitching - ANAKIN

Hello again!  Ivette here with you to share my challenge #24 piece.
I purposely used image #6 from the store because this past Monday, Feb. 17th, I lost one of my best friends.  A black Lab named Anakin.  He would have been 15 y.o. on April 7th.  I dedicate this project in his memory.  He left behind a Maltese, Chase and a white Shepherd, Leia.  He is sorely missed and my heart is broken...
I began with a gessoed 10x8 canvas, used my Distress Ink, Broken China for the background, sealed it with Mod Podge.  I used my Copic pens, gray tones and a Copic Multiliner.

I used vellum paper to cut out his wings with Tim Holtz's Layered Angel Wings die.  A halo created with thin gold wire.
Jolee's white doves added to the sides of his name which is from TH's Newsprint Alphas.

I used ribbon with paw prints and stitched it down along the bottom of the frame using burgundy thread. A cloud with plastic doves I had laying around.  A tennis ball by his foot is from Jolee's Stickers. I finished the canvas by adding TH's Corners which I colored black with my Copic pen.

Hope you play along with us on Fitztown's current challenge.

In Memory of my beloved Friend, Anakin...
May the force be with you...

GD Penny: Final Post - Stitching

Stitching
Hello Penny here, I am back for another post today! It is all about stitching.

I am using the beautiful image from Fitztown called Cameo 3.
I hope you will join in this weeks challenge.
I can't wait to see what you make. Have a wonderful crafty day.
My pattern papers are by My Mind's Eye.
I used Copic Markers to color with, and some Spica glitter markers for the stitching. I also used a white marker by Sakura. I hope you enjoy all of the beautiful cards by the Design Team and are inspired to create something also.
I have really enjoyed my time as Guest Designer here at Fitztown and look forward to more of their awesome challenges!!!

GD Jacqui Robinson - Challenge 24 Stitching

Hi there guys, gals and FB pals lovely to chat with you again. I'm here to share my final piece as GDT for Fitztown and I've loved every second of it especially the images. There is such a wide range of digis that I've been spoilt for choice and will continue to use in the future. I'll definitely recommend them to everyone. Now about my card! For this card I've used the image "Cameo1" and you can find these images here. I've coloured the image with Promarkers and cut out with a Tonic die. For the mat I used a mask on black card with purple and gold glitter paste, then onto some gold card and the rest is from my stash.  My middle layer is a large flower stamp on  black card with a cosmic shimmer embossing lustre powder and once again on gold card. I wrapped some gold ribbon round it put my top layer on and then wrapped some purple organza ribbon over it all with a little black ribbon slider at one side and some  die cut some flowers under it. My base layer is a purple paper from my stash on some black card and I added some faux stitching on it with a ruler and black micron pen, then a little gold embellishment at the top and bottom. I really hope you like and have enjoyed seeing my work as much as I enjoyed showing you it. Please let me know if you do.

Thanks, Jacqui

GD IVETTE - CHALLENGE #22 BUTTONS & BOWS: "THE LAZY SONG"

Hello everyone, Ivette here with Challenge #22 Buttons & Bows mixed media canvas project.  I used this neat Fitztown's image that I colored with my Copic, Multiliner and Spica Pens.
I began by covering the canvas with a light coat of gesso.  Then I used my Distress Inks, Spiced Marmalade and Peacock Feathers.
I printed out music sheets of a favorite song called, "The Lazy Song" by Bruno Mars.  This fairy was feeling her groove.
I used Mod Podge (glossy) to glue the torn pieces of music sheets  onto the canvas.   A 6x6 stencil by TCW, Mini Gears was used on both sides of the fairy.  The music notes were drawn by hand with my Copic Multiliner 0.05 (blk).   Added some jewelry pieces as studs on top of the canvas, as well as two bows and buttons on both sides of the upper corners.
For the wings I used Tim Holtz's Die, Layered Wings and cut them out of transparency.  I colored them with my Copic pens.
I had a blue piece of a beaded chain and placed it around her.

Some TH Mini Gears were dabbed in Patina.
The rocks are Spring Fillers by Ashland that I purchased at Michaels.  They come in various colors.  The song title were from TH's Alpha.
Hope you enjoyed my mixed media canvas.  Hope I've inspired you and jump started your creative juices!
Don't forget to visit my blog, Escaping Understanding to view some of my work.
 Have fun!

Gd Jacqui Challenge 22 / Buttons and Bows

Hi again craftaholics! Hope you've all been having a great time and are enjoying all the lovely images and inspiration we have here at Fitztown. Today I'm showcasing my very first flower from Fitztown and I do love it! lol I'm using the image FL 1. I actually printed it 3 times then coloured it with yellow and green Promarkers then highlighted it with some a yellow deco pen I bought from yellow moon for my nephew to a paint with. Well all's fair in love and crafting after all and I'm an awesome aunt cause I print him out all my designs and let him colour with my Promarkers! (sacrilege I know but he's 5 and sooo adorable! I just can't say no!) Anyway back to my project! I cut out two layers of the flower and decoupaged it and I love the way the height makes it stand out. The rest was easy, I used yellow pearlescent card as my base then created a background with a flower stamp, versamark, and gold embossing powder. I split this in three panels and put it on my background. Then I used an SB edger die and cut it in gold, yellow and black and placed it about a third of the way down. I used another die (sorry no idea what make) and cut out my flower with it and a yellow mat as well. I placed a circular border that I sprayed in gold on top of the three panels then a green doily and my image and base. I found 3 green buttons (drawer searching again) lol and put them at the bottom of the panels. I used really broad green glitter ribbon to make a bow and added a white fabric flower and a gold gem to finish. This is quite a time consuming project but well worth the effort as the end result shows. Once again I hope you like and, if you do, please let me know. Till next time, Jacqui xx

GD Jacqui Challenge 20 / 3 Designer papers

Hello once again crafters it's Jacqui here again with my inspiration card for Challenge No 20.  For this card I used the Teddy 16 digi stamp. Once again I coloured it with promarkers and cut it out with an SB die. After colouring my image I decided on purple and blue tones for my card and black mats to make them stand out. After that it was stash all the way lol. I went through my stash and found loads of papers in purple tones and it was quite hard to narrow it down to three! But eventually I chose a flower paper, a stripe and a glitter one. I used my usual 8x8 card (still trying to break this habit. lol) and some black card for my mats with blue in the middle to break it up. My base layer is the flower paper on black, the next is the stripe paper on blue and the top is the glitter paper on black. I added some purple bling down the sides of my middle layer and some purple and blue ribbons down  the side of my base layer. I added a couple of blue flowers a sentiment and a bow to finish. I hope you like it and if you do let me know. I look forward to seeing your creations, so till next time have fun.  Jacqui

GD Deni Recipe

Hello and welcome to Fitztown :-) This weeks challenge is a Recipe Challenge.
I have to admit this is my first recipe challenge.. I had no idea what I was doing and actually thought you had to put a recipe on the card lol.

Recipe
1 Ribbon/bow
2 Buttons
2 Flowers
1 Clip/stitch/fastening
2 Patterned Papers
Glitter (of any kind)
The image I have used today is le 2, it is from The Last Enchanter collection of digital stamps.

I originally thought of doing a twins birthday card, but couldn't make it work. So then I thought valentines card, I loved the love hate type vibe the image gives off. Again I just couldn't get my head into it, I then starting pulling out my sentiments to see what would jump at me before putting the card together.
That's when I came across my Brother's and Sister's stamps from Amy R of CC Designs, I then had my card in my head ready to go :-) I stamped the sentiments using Versafine Onyx Black on x-press it blending cardstock.

I have used 2 flowers in the girls hair, faux stitching around the card, 2 buttons on the side, shoelace type ribbon from my stash, glitter on the arrow and the boys arm band, and lucky last 2 pattern papers, the first one is the dots and the second one is the arrow which is cut from a matching patterned paper.

Can't wait to see you all play along, why not think out of the box.. sometimes things just fall together :-)

"DEFENDER OF FITZTOWN"

Hello bloggers!  My name is Ivette, and I'd like to tell you how exciting it is for me to be here with you as guest designer on Fitztown's Challenge Blog!  It was so much fun working on this canvas piece.  I would like to take you on a ride inside my imagination as we play along with Challenge #18 Kraft Paper.  Hope you get inspired!

I began with a piece of canvas that I applied gesso and when it dried I then used my TH Distress inks and went to town... Fitztown that is!!!

I used my TH stencil (Rays) and a 6x6 tree branch stencil by D&W.   I also used a 6x6 stencil by Prima, to form the stone side of a castle wall on the right side of the canvas.  I added details to it using Copic pens and micron colored pens.  The castle in the background I created by hand out of vellum.   Then I began adding colors, shade, and highlights which brought it to life.

I truly enjoyed working on this Fitztown image.  He was colored with copic pens.  I added a crown and placed tiny red rhinestones on it to bling it up a bit.  Every defender needs something to defend himself with, so I made a shield out of metallic cardstock and added a tiny red heart gem in the center.  Is he a trooper or what?
There's a tiny dragonfly passing by underneath him.

I hand drew some birds in the distance as well as some puffy clouds in the distance by applying white Liquid Applique, by Marvy.  It was then heated with a heat gun.  Liquid Applique is a long time favorite product of mine.
The bird on the upper right is a Beads Landing charm.  I added some TH Pen Nibs as part of the castle.  They just belonged in there.
The waterfall is actually a Jolee sticker.  By hand I extended the flow of the waterfall using my copic pens.  It was finished off with a generous amount of Glossy Accent.  The mountains were created with white acrylic paint and various colors of TH's Stains.  I used a fan brush technique to create far away trees.  When it dried, I went over it with copic pens to again, bring out the highlights/shading and details.  The trees are from TH's Edge die, Trees that I cut apart and colored with my Distress inks.  The darker trees in the foreground are from Martha Stewart's Pine Tree punch.  The deer by the waterfall was also a MS punch.  The two miniature trees, (one on top of the waterfall and the other on the bottom) were purchased from Retro Cafe Art.  The rocks below and above the waterfall were created out of TH's Kraft Glassine Paper that I tore into pieces, then I rolled them on the ink pad, then clued down onto the canvas.  The smiling half a moon I believe is from Beads Landing.

Here's a close up of the lower right corner of the canvas.  I added moss into the broken terra cotta mini pot that I had leftover from a previous project.  The burgundy stems coming out of the pot I made with wire, glue and flower soft.  If you don't know flower soft, I suggest you look it up.  It's amazing!  I'm actually surprised that I don't see it used often.  To finish off the right side of the canvas,  I decided to use TH's ball beads and this cute little lady in red bug.

You can see the puffy clouds and the rocks better in this photo.

Hope you enjoyed the ride into my imagination and more importantly,  I hope you were inspired!  If you'd like to view more of my work, check out my blog named, "Escaping Understanding" at by going to: n1sunrider.blogspot.com

Hello, I am Penny and I am posting for you today! The challenge today is to color on Kraft. I am using Car 3 one of Fitztown's awesome images. I used Kraft paper by Bazzil and I colored my image with Copic Markers and a couple Prismacolor pencils.
I used Graphic 45 paper and sponged it all up with some Memento Rich Cocoa and Tuxedo black inks. I used cool grays and added some reds and yellows with a couple Prismacolor Pencils. This is going to make a great card for my son-n-law tomorrow. I hope you like and are inspired to start creating a little something of your own.
Happy Crafting!!

GD Jacqui

Hi everyone! I hope you all had a happy, healthy and crafty New Year.
Jacqui here with my first post for Fitztown in 2014.

For my first project on the blog I'm using the image LE 5 the last enchanters LE kids by Ariana Soares which you can find here http://www.fitztown.com/the-last-enchanter.html
This is the first image I've used from Fitztown and I'm totally loving them and can't wait to get my next one. I coloured this with Promarkers then cut it out with a Tonic die (loopy lace). For the background I used a Justrite stamp and Versamark on black card with a cosmic shimmer lustre embossing powder. Kraft card is my new favourite toy at the minute so I embossed a piece for my mat with another embossed white piece behind, then added a small green net bow with a black gem, this is my top layer. I found a matching piece of blue card (in the bit box that we all have) lol. I used the matching Tonic loopy lace punch down both sides and matted it on some white with some blue ribbon on the corner and this is my 2nd layer. I used my trademark 8x8 card with a Kraft card mat and some green netting on top as my base layer. I finished by adding some bling with silver gems down the left side of my top layer and some blue and green on the right side of my 2nd layer to finish with . I really hope you like what I've made and please let me know what you think.
Thanks for stopping by and be sure to join us for Challenge #18 - Kraft Paper. We'd love to see your creation with Kraft paper.

Guest Designer for January / February

Hello, my name is Ivette and I was born and raised in NYC. In 2002, I retired as a Police Officer from the NYPD's Pickpocket Unit. I live in the beautiful Hudson Valley in upstate NY with my family and dogs. I've been creative since I was a little girl and it all started with a coloring book, crayons and a dare.

I teach paper crafts, stamping and mixed media at private events and retreats in the tri-state area. Currently, I am a Certified Paper Ed instructor at Michaels Arts & Crafts and I am Copic Certified. I've attended several workshops with Tim Holtz, Finnabair and Kathy Orta from Paper Phenomenom.

My style leans more towards Steampunk and Vintage. I love photography, horses, the color red and I'm a HUGE Star Wars fan. My favorite motto comes from Yoda, "Do, or Do not... there is no TRY!"

I look forward to sharing my knowledge and being a guest designer for Fitztown.
